Abstract
794,690. Interferometer. ZEISS - STIFTUNG, C., [trading as ZEISS, C. [Firm of]]. Aug. 15, 1956 [Aug. 27, 1955], No. 24996/56. Classes 97(1) and 97(2) In an interferometer as claimed in Specification 784.042 means are provided to produce two interference fringe images each occupying one half of the field whereby the inclination of the inclinable reflecting surface may be more accurately determined. As shown an incident light beam 5 is divided' by semi-reflecting surface 6 into beam 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> reflected in opposite directions around substantiially the same path by mirrors 7, 8 and the inclinable reflector 4 to be reinclined by the surface 3, two oppositely directed wedges 10, 11 being provided to vary the path lengths over two halves of the beam so that when the reflector 4 is tilted for example to the position 4<SP>1</SP> the interference fringe seen in one half of the beam 9 differ from those in the other half. Alternatively the surface of the reflector 4 may be formed as two oppositely directed wedges.
