Abstract

794,372. Filters for liquids. MULLER, J. Dec. 5, 1955 [Feb. 17, 1955], No. 34783/55. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] A filter for liquids comprises a rigid sheetmetal tubular casing having a series of closely spaced depressions each having a conical mouth at one side of the casing and over the smaller aperture at the other side, filtering means supported by the casing against deformation. A filter sheet 2 wound around an apertured tubular former 1 which may be as described in Specification 773,588 overlaps and is folded over the ends of the tube and secured by a U-section strip which may act as a seal. One end takes into an annular channel 8 in an apertured partition member 5 and the other is received in the recessed periphery 10 of a sealing cap 9 secured to the partition 5 by a screwed rod 7 and nut 11 acting through a compensating device 12 such as that described in Specification 790,781 [Group XXV]. Two or more tubular units may be arranged in tandem the filter sheet being arranged on the inflow side of the former 1. As shown in Fig. 5, several units are mounted in parallel on a carrier 19 having an external peripheral groove 21 adapted to fit over a flange 18 on a rectangular outer casing 13 having a removable cover 16 provided with a continuation flange 17. A resilient tube is retained in the groove 21 by a spiral spring to make a sealed joint between the flanges and the carrier plate. As shown in Fig. 10, the apertured former 30 is surrounded by a filter consisting of flat annuli formed on their faces with microgrooves as described in Specification 769,924.
