Abstract
793,997. Inductors. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. May 28, 1956 [July 5, 1955], No. 16406/56. Class 38 (2). An inductor comprises a coil 2 enclosed in a magnetic core formed in two parts 10, 18 which are connected by a screw 16 and nut 26 and separated by a resilient shim 20. On rise in ambient temperature, screw 16 expands and the core parts are urged apart by the shim to increase the air gap and so vary the magnetic circuit to keep the inductance constant. The core is mounted in a two-part casing 28, 34 by cement 32 and the upper space is filled with a deformable material 36, e.g. silicone putty.
