Abstract

793,767. Centrifugal clutches. FICHTEL & SACHS AKT.-GES. Oct. 22, 1956 [Nov. 9, 1955], No. 32119/56. Class 80 (2). In a centrifugal clutch a driving shaft 11 having an axial bore 12 and a flange 13 has secured thereto an annular casing 15 and a member 14 which carries a plurality of leafsprings 17 with centrifugal weights 18 and friction linings 19. A drum shaped driven member 20 surrounding the weights 18 carries a cover 21 housing a pressure ring 22 normally urged to the left by the springs 23 for frictional engagement with a disc 24 which is keyed to the driven shaft 25 journalled in the member 20. A disengaging lever 26 is mounted on the cover 21 for operating by manual, electrical, mechanical or pressure means. Member 20 has a journal 27, the end of which runs in a sliding bearing 28 within the bore 12 and a ball-bearing 29 carried in the casing 15. Between the two bearings is arranged a freewheeling device 30 constructed to lock on over-run of the driven shaft. In an alternative construction the radial operating centrifugal clutch is replaced by an axial arrangement.
