Abstract

793,765. Couplings. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Oct. 11, 1956 [Oct. 28, 1955], No. 31047/56. Class 80 (2). In a gear assembly particularly for a window lift mechanism an electric motor is drivingly connected by a worm to a worm-wheel 14, keyed to a shaft 12 which is rotatably supported in a cylindrical housing 10. A pinion 20 is rotatably journalled on the shaft 12 and has a flange 24 with conical surface 26 fixed to it. A cushion 30 of resilient material is disposed between the conical surface 26 and a conical surface 28 on the worm gear 14 and bonded thereto. The worm gear 14 is formed with a flange 34 which prevents entrance of the resilient cushion into the wormwheel teeth and also supports a sealing lip 32 extending from the resilient member 30.
