Classes 44 and 109 [Also in Group XXXVI] A fastening device for connecting two portions of cord, ribbon, string, rope, wire thread, yarn, cable, electrical conductors or clothes lines comprises two strands 13, 14 of resilient filamentary material which run side by side and are twisted together to form an elongated intermediate loop which is adjoined at each of its ends by a section 15, 16 consisting of a series of intertwined turns which forms an end of the device, these turns being deformable so as to yield to secure and then to resiliently grip one of the two portions of cord, &c Each portion of cord &c. is passed through the loop and pulled through the twists of a respective end section until it is tightly engaged. The twists can be of the same size as shown in Fig. 3, or gradually decreasing size or in groups of varying sizes. In a modification, Fig. 5. two devices as shown in Fig. 3 are arranged with their loops crossing at right angles, the crossing points being soldered or welded together. Such a device is useful for securing cord or ribbon typing a package. In a further modification the device shown in Fig. 3 can be. curved for use as a shoe lace connector. Each of the devices described above is made of metal or plastic wire and the two strands 13, 14 can be parts of a single length of wire if desired.
