793,072. Gas meters. RADIATION, Ltd. Nov. 13, 1956 [Nov. 15, 1955], No. 32657/55. Class 54. Adjustable means for securing the flag rod 1, Figs. 1 and 2, of a dry-gas meter to its flag arm 6 comprises a bridge member 3 spaced by the flag rod from a surface 4 provided either on the flag arm or a member rigid therewith, and means on the flag rod for preventing it from rotating relatively to the bridge member and for permitting it to perform limited rotation in relation to the surface 4 when the bridge member and surface are relatively slewed. As shown in Fig. 1, the flag rod is clamped by screws 5 between the curved surface 4 on a lug 6a on the flag arm and the bridge member 3 which engages a flat surface 2 on the flag rod; by releasing one screw and tightening the other the bridge member and flag rod are slewed relatively to the flag arm. This arrangement may be modified by providing a hole 8 in the flag arm for the reception of the flag rod which is clamped in position by nuts 7 on the screws 5 urging the bridge member 3 against the flat surface 2 on the flag rod. An alternative form of adjustment consists in mounting a T-shaped member 11, Fig. 3, rigidly on the flag rod 1 and clamping a pin 9 which depends from the flag arm between such member and the bridge member 10. Instead of providing a flat surface on the flag rod 1 or pin 9 to prevent rotation of these members relative to the engaging surface, serrations may be employed to achieve the same effect.
