Abstract
792,878. Keyboard switches; snap-action switches. PREH, W., and PREH, A., [trading as PREH, ELEKTROFEINMECHANISCHE WERKE, J. PREH NACHF.]. Dec. 20, 1955, No. 36462/55. Class 38 (5). A switch assembly comprises a main switch and a number of wave-change switches (not shown) mounted side-by-side with their operating keys 7 pivoted on a common spindle 6. The main switch comprises a vertically-slidable contact carrier 4 connected to the key 7 by a spring 15 and engaged by a projection 11 of a lever 10 also pivoted at 6 and having an arm 12 co-operating with a part 13 of a pivoted. locking rail 14. The latter is spring-urged to hold the lever 10 in each end position. When the main key 7 is depressed, the spring 15 is strained until a cam 19 on the key raises the rail 14 to release the lever 10, so that the carrier 4 moves with a snap-action. When released, the key 7 is restored by a coil-spring 18, thereby re-straining the spring 15. Depression of any wave-change key then raises the rail 14 to release the lever 10 again, and the carrier 4 snaps in the opposite direction.
