Abstract
792,646. Transformers. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Dec. 23, 1955 [Dec. 28, 1954], No. 36914/55. Class 38 (2). Angular movement of rotor 21 of a transformer having a stator 17 is limited by a stop inside the housing 12. Rotor shaft 20 carries an insulating disc 52 bearing a radially projecting sector 53, the ends 54, 56 of which respectively engage at the two limits of possible travel of the rotor edge 55 of an offset portion 36 of a plate 30 and pillar 31 mounted on plate 30. The engaging parts are so disposed that the rotor can move through 180 degrees. Alternatively the extent of rotation can be adjusted by movement relative to sector 53 of a slotted arcuate plate 60 adjustably secured to the sector 53 by two screws 62, Fig. 3a. Insulating disc 30 is fixed by screws 29 to cover-plate 14 of housing 12. It carries conducting pillars 31, 35 to which are connected leads 40, 41 and the outer ends of hair-springs 43, 48 which are wound in the same direction and both exercise a restraining torque on the rotor and conduct current to the rotor. They are separated by an insulating disc 49. Their inner ends are carried by metal sleeves 42, 46 on shaft 20 which are connected to the ends of rotor winding 27 by leads 50,51. In a modification the hair-springs are replaced by brushes bearing on slip-rings carried by the rotor shaft, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). Specifications 671,632, 680,503 and 769,038 are referred to.
