Abstract

A composition, for treating paper to render it non-adherent to pressure-sensitive adhesives, comprises from 5 to 20 per cent of a methylpolysiloxane resin having a CH3/Si ratio of from 1.3 to 1.7, from 50 to 75 per cent of a liquid methylhydrogenpolysiloxane having a CH3+H/Si ratio of from 1.8 to 2.5 and an H/Si ratio of from 0.5 to 1 and from 15 to 30 per cent of a reaction product of acetic acid or anhydride with an orthotitanic acid ester of a lower aliphatic alcohol, the percentages being by weight of the total composition. The composition may be dissolved, e.g. in benzene, toluene, xylene, petroleum, carbon tetrachloride or chloroform to give a solution containing, e.g. 80 to 90 per cent by weight of solvent. In the example, the paper-treating composition consists of a petroleum spirit solution of a methylpolysiloxane resin, a methylhydrogenpolysiloxane liquid and the reaction product of acetic anhydride with tetrabutyltitanate.
