791,672. Food-sterilizing apparatus. WEBSTER & CO., Ltd., R. W. Oct. 17, 1955 [Nov. 4, 1954], No. 21703/57. Divided out of 791,671. Class 49. The outer column of the U-shaped seal of a sterilizing apparatus is stepped to eliminate a direct vertical path through the full length of the column. The sealing columns 2, 4 each comprise a lower part 11 and an upper part 12 of which the side wall is extended to form a pocket E for trapping hot liquid tending to rise ; the lower end of part 12 may be extended downwards below the aperture communicating with the part 11 to provide a trap F for cooler liquid descending. The wave-like conveyer path in Fig. 3 forms the subject-matter of Specification 791,671. Specifications 648,345 and 730,781 are referred to.
