791,671. Food-sterilizing apparatus. WEBSTER & CO., Ltd., R. W. Oct. 17, 1955 [Nov. 4, 1954], No. 31928/54. Class 49. The conveyer of a sterilizing apparatus, on which bottles or cans carried, e.g., in pockets, are passed into, through and out of a closed, heated sterilizing chamber sealed to the atmosphere by a sealing column, follows a non-linear, e.g. a wave-like, path between successive turning points in the general line of travel whereby each container is repeatedly rocked or tilted about an axis perpendicular to its length. In Fig. 1 the path of the conveyer 6 is outwardly curved as at 8 and, at a lower level, inwardly curved at 9, similar curvatures are provided within the chamber 1, walls 10 and partitions being curved to accommodate the curvature of the conveyer. The Provisional Specification comprises also the subject-matter of Specification 791,672. Specification 730,781 is referred to.
