Abstract

791,576. Vices. AKTIEBOLAGET E. N. EKLUNDS MEKANISKA VERKSTAD. June 18, 1956 [June 30, 1955], No. 18735/56. Class 61. In a machine tool vice the body 10 of which is provided with two jaws 11, 12, the jaw 11 being fixed to the body and the jaw 12 being displaceable on the body towards and away from the fixed jaw 11 by means of a clamping screw spindle 14, the body 10 being turnable relatively to a base plate 1. provided with a conical central part 2 which is surrounded by a clamping ring 7 provided with a transverse slot 6, ring parts 16, 17 at both sides of the slot being adapted to be pressed towards each other by means of a clamping screw 20 which is turnable by means of a crank 13 to clamp the body 10 to the base plate 1, the clamping screw 20 is journalled in the body 10 and its outer end 25 is situated adjacent the outer end 27 of the screw spindle 14. The threaded end 19 of the clamping screw 20 passes freely through a bore 18 in the part 17 of the clamping ring 7 and screws into the internally threaded part 16. A distance tube 23 is inserted between a shoulder 21 on the screw 20 and a shoulder 22 on the part 17. The ends 25, 27 of the spindles 14, 20 are provided with similar square heads so that the one crank 13 can be used for turning both spindles. Axial notches 28 of a hexagonal cross-section are formed in the ends 25, 27 of the spindles so that they may be turned by an angle-bent lever 30 when the body 10 is in such a position that the crank 13 cannot be turned a complete revolution. When not in use the lever 30 is stored in a clamping sleeve 33 provided on the body 10. When the vice is required for the production in series of work pieces which can be fixed one at a time in exactly the same position between the jaws an adjustable and fixable boom 37 is provided on the fixed jaw 11. A locking screw 36 fixes the boom in adjusted position and a clamp 41 connects the boom to a pin 40 which extends into the space between the jaws 11, 12. The clamp 41 consists of two arms 43 pressed together by means of a screw 42. The screws 36, 42 are each provided with a hexagonal notch so that they may be loosened by means of the lever 30.
