A shut-off device for a flexible tube 1 comprises a mounting 2 to which the tube is attached and a frame-like member 9 surrounding the tube and connected to a bell-crank lever 7, 8 to form a toggle joint. The bell-crank lever is pivoted at 6 to the mounting 2 and by means of a shaft 10 to the member 9 which has at its lower extremity a shaft 12 surrounded by a roller 11 for engaging the tube 1 to compress it against the mounting 2 when the bell crank lever is moved in a clockwise direction about the pivot 6. The mounting 2 has a pair of projections 13 providing guide surfaces 15 along which the roller 11 passes to recesses 14 when the lever 7, 8 is operated to close the tube. During the closing movement the toggle mechanism passes through a dead-centre position so that the tube remains closed until the bell crank lever is turned in the opposite direction. As shown, the mounting 2 is fitted at the end of the tube 1 and is formed with abutments or claws 4 for coupling the tube to another tube.
