Class 141 A corset &c. stiffener comprises a middle portion 5 of greater flexural strength (i.e. greater flexibility and less liability to mechanical fatigue under repeated flexing) than the end portions 4. The portions 4, 5 are recessed, rebated, hollowed or channelled at their ends for interengagement. The end portions may be of steel which may be coated with plastic and the middle portion of nylon.
