Abstract

A fibre fleece is conveyed through a hot acid chlorite bath which has a pH above 3.0 upon an open-weave endless band composed of glass fibres, which may be coated with a thermoplastic synthetic resin, or of glass threads in the warp and synthetic rubber threads in the weft. The fleece may be of staple rayon and the bleach bath may be at a temperature near to boiling. The fleece may be fed to the endless belt from the washing stage via pressure rollers and a stainless steel endless band and may issue from the bleach bath via similar apparatus.
