Class 100(3) [Also in Group XV] A copy-holder or like device consists of a supporting member and means for temporarily securing a sheet of paper or the like thereto, comprising a bar on which is slidably and non-rotatably mounted an arm adapted to engage and retain the sheet on the supporting member, the bar being rotatable about its axis to enable the arm to engage or release the sheet. The supporting member 1, Figs. 1 and 3, has secured thereto by bolts 7 a pair of sheet metal clips 6, each comprising a portion 6a encircling a cylindrical end portion 8 of a bar 3 of otherwise square cross-section, and spring fingers 10 co-operating with opposite faces of the square portion of the bar so as to bias the latter into positions angularly spaced by 90 degrees. Slidably and non-rotatably mounted on the bar 3 is a hollow plastic slider 5 whose sides are furnished with square apertures through which the bar passes. A flexible arm 4 of springy steel is functionally secured to the slider, into which it passes through a slot 11, by being slightly bent between the bar 3 and projections 12, 13 on the slider, an aperture on the arm engaging a pip 15 on the projection 13. The arm 4 acts to clamp and release a sheet of paper or the like on the member 1, and also as a lineindicator. The arm is formed with indentations 16 to localize its contact with the member 1 or the sheet. The member 1 may be formed of an acrylic resin, and is provided with holes 2 for screws for securing it to a reading desk or the like.
