Abstract

790,535. Waveguide accessories. COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. April 5, 1956 [April 7, 1955], No. 10447/56. Class 40 (8). The electrical characteristics of a U.H.F. circuit, e.g. the resonant frequency of a cavity resonator, the impedance or band-pass of a transmission line are changed by means of a triggering device actuated by an inflammable charge. As shown, the triggering device is adapted to withdraw plungers 2, 3 from a waveguide 1. The plungers are located within guide sleeves 13, 14 and are adjustably attached to a yoke 4. The yoke carries a central sleeve 11 adapted to slide upon a fixed sleeve 12 which houses a spring 29. The outer sleeve 11 keeps the spring 29 in a state of compression and is held in position by a hoop 16 which co-operates with a projection 17 on the sleeve. The limbs 18 of the hoop 16 are attached to horizontallyopposed points on one side of a disc 26 the other side of which carries two plungers 33 fitting within combustion chambers 32. Firing of charges 34 displaces the plungers 33 and releases the hoop 16 from the sleeve 11. This allows the yoke 4 to rise under the influence of the spring 29 and to withdraw the plungers 2, 3.
