Abstract

790,479. Multiplex systems. AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC LABORATORIES, Inc. May 18, 1954 [May 29, 1953], No. 14562/54. Class 40 (4). In a carrier system, a pair of in-band pilot currents introduced at the transmitter and received at the transmitter and received in .selective parallel circuits are modulated on each other to produce a current lying outside the transmitted band and the intelligence band is modulated therewith to produce a band in which frequency errors arising from transmission are substantially cancelled. In the system, Fig. 2, which uses a carrier frequency of 304 Kc/s and pilot currents of 44 and 88 Kc/s, the received pilot frequencies 216+ error (d) and 260+ error (d) are selected by filters 271, 2711 and applied to the modulator 41. Modulation product 2(260+d)-(216+d)= 304+d is selected and is modulated with the whole received signal (164+d-264+d) in modulator 371 to reproduce a 40-140 Kc/s supergroup.
