790,397. Glass fibres. AKT.-GES. DER GERRESHEIMER GLASHUTTENWERKE VORM. F. HEYE. March 19, 1956 [March 17, 1955], No. 8447,56. Class 56. Glass for making fine fibres either by the blowing or centrifuging process is made from silica binary or silica ternary systems substantially free of alumina which melt congruently and are unchanged in conversion from the solid to the liquid phase. Examples are SiO 2 with CaO or BaO, and SiO 2 with CaO and MgO or with CaO and FeO or with CaO and ZnO; particularly 3SiO 2 2 BaO ; 2 SiO 2 .2 CaO.MgO; 2 SiO 2 .CaO.MgO; and SiO 2 .CaO.FeO.
