Abstract

789,869. Table games. REX SOC. A.R.L. and OULEVEY, E. A. Aug. 20, 1956 [Aug. 26, 1955], No. 25368/56. Class 132(2) A table game resembling hockey comprises a four-sided casing provided at its upper part with a horizontal plate surmounted by a frame defining a playing surface over which a ball may be moved, this plate carrying elements 6 which are used to strike the ball towards one of the recesses 9. The elements 6 are each provided with a permanent magnet subjected to the action of movable permanent magnets 24 beneath the horizontal plate, which are made to move longitudinally, transversely or rotatably. An element 7 is placed in front of each of the recesses 9 adapted to strike the ball. It is connected to a movable rack 11 (Fig. 2) on a support 12 and moved by means of a toothed wheel 15, on a spindle, 16, with an operating handle 17. The movable permanent magnets 24 are fixed in pairs at the opposite ends of plates 34 mounted at 23 on a spindle 33 which is turned by a shaft 40 through toothed wheels 38, 39 (Fig. 3). The spindle 33 is carried by a support 31 which is supported by slides 26, 27 on longitudinal rods 13 by means of rods 30. The magnets 24 are held in spring-loaded cylinders 37. The shaft 40 is rotatably mounted by means of a sleeve 43 on the slide 27 and carries a wheel 44 provided with a screw bolt 45 connected by a link 46 to a pin 47 fixed to a toothed wheel 48. The slide 27 is attached to the end of the tubular shaft 52 which forms part of the corresponding control member 25, the former end carrying a toothed sleeve 55 which engages with the toothed wheel 48 and the latter end carrying an operating handle, 57. This operating handle enables the plate 34 to be revolved with the spindle 33. It also enables the slides to be pushed or pulled along the rods 13 imparting a longitudinal motion to the plates 34 and magnets '24. Lateral motion is imparted to the support 31, of the plate 34, by means of a rack bar 32, which pulls the support 31 along the supports 30. A pinion 61 engages with the rack bar 32 and is operated by a shaft 60 inside the shaft 52 with an operating wheel 63. - The flow of the recesses. 9 has two openings connecting with two channels 64 opening into a mag- .azine 65, from which the ball is projected back into play after passing through one of the recesses 9. In a modification, the spindle mounted in the slide 27 may have two co-axial pinions operating the lateral and rotary movements simultaneously. Wires 68 restrict the movements of each element 6 to a particular area of the playing surface.
