Abstract

788,207. Vehicle fuel tank &c. closures. BLAU, R., and BLAU, W. Jan. 13, 1956, No. 1183/56. Addition to 680,947. Class 125(3). In an improvement in or modification of the closure claimed in the parent Specification the annular protruberances 12, 12<SP>1</SP> of the plates 11, 20 have grooves 13, 13<SP>1</SP> to provide equalisation passages for gas pressure. A diaphragm 9 has a centre hole 10 co-operating with the protruberance 12 on the plate 11 which acts also as a splash plate, the groove 13 allowing balance of small pressure changes while movement of the diaphragm allows equalization of greater pressures via holes 14 in plate 11. Passage 13 merges into a channel indentation 15 which is of spiral form and merges with a circumferential indentation 16 wherein the holes 14 are disposed. A disc 18 similar to diaphragm 9 has a central hole 19 and the second splash plate 20 is of similar construction to plate 11, a diaphragm 21 being disposed between the plate 20 and the cap. In a simplified construction, Fig. 4, a diaphragm 31 has a centre hole 30 co-operating with an annular protruberance 32, having a grooved passage 33, on a splash plate 34, sealing rings 37, 38 being provided.
