Abstract
788,171. Heald frames for looms. KERSHAW, T., and KERSHAW, J. H. Jan. 23, 1956 [Jan. 21, 1955], No. 1841/55. Class 142(2) Hooks 43 supporting the heald support bars are provided with ball or roller bearings which run in an internal track in the adjacent rail of the frame. Spring plates 41 retain the bearings in a plate 37 forming the top portion of the hook 43. A suspension hook 25, engaging an identical track in the outer edge of each of the upper and lower rails, is locked in position by a nut 31 and a plate 33. Each support bar 45. Fig. 5, is locked against endwise movement by a notch 51 in each end engaging the lower edge of a slot in a plate 49 when the plate is raised. A screw 55 locks the plate against movement. The upper and lower rails may be of metal or of wood with metal edges. Each hook 43 may have a further hook 61 thereon for the attachment of a tension wire extending between the top and bottom rails. The side rails 17 (Fig. 7) of the frame are attached to the top and bottom rails by screws 67 which engage bushes 65 in the rails.
