Abstract

A roller-type applicator for paint comprises a perforated cylinder 1, e.g. of wire mesh or ceramic, which constitutes a paint reservoir 4, and means, e.g. a heavy roll 9, inside the cylinder 1 to assist in expelling paint therefrom during operation through the perforations. A sleeve 10 of textile pile or sponge rubber may be formed on the cylinder 1 by winding a strip of material thereabout. End plates 3 space the cylinder 1 from an internal cylinder 2 carrying bushes 6 in <PICT:0788167/III/1> which is supported a spindle 7. A cap 5 permits charging of the cylinder. The cylinders 1, 2 may be connected through gears with the roll 9.
