Abstract

788,075. Contacting liquids with gases. MONSANTO CHEMICALS, Ltd. April 25, 1956 [April 29, 1955], No. 12415/55. Class 55 (2). Adjacent sections 1 and 2 of a tray for a fractionating column are joined together by a riser 5 having a flange 6 engaging the underside of the section 2 and a bubble-cap 11 with legs 13 engaging the upper surface of the section 1 and which is secured to a threaded stud 9 on the riser by a nut 12. The marginal portion of the section 2 is downwardly offset and carries a reinforcing flange 3. Strips of packing material 4 and 7 make the joints fluid-tight.
