787,783. Canned foods. SIMMENTHAL MERIDIONALE SOC. R. L. Dec. 6, 1955 No. 34931/55. Class 49. [Also in Group XVII] Solid and liquid food portions are separated in a can by a transverse metal baffle 2 in order to preserve flavour during cooking or sterilizing, which baffle is of concave, convex or undulating shape and is provided with supporting means to define a lower chamber 3 for the liquid portion. A metal stirrup-shaped handle 6 which is attached to the baffle and provides legs therefor facilitates extraction when the can is opened, or a rod or string carrying a handle may be attached to the centre of the baffle for this purpose, in which case the baffle is provided with independent supporting legs of its own or is supported by a flange on the lining of the can.
