Abstract

786,989. Venetian blinds. VEDETTA SOC. R.L. Oct. 3, 1955 [Oct. 4, 1954], No. 28089/55. Class 20(3) In a venetian blind construction of the kind including ladder tapes 2, 3, 4 for supporting laths 1 and tilting and lift cords 5, 7 respectively, each lath 1, Fig. 6, is provided with downwardly and upwardly directed grooves 9a, 10a adjacent its front and rear edges 1a, 1b respectively so that in the closed position of the blind the bottom edge of each lath makes contact with the corresponding overlapped upper edge of the lath beneath it, the lift cords 7 passing through slots 8 in the laths, being accommodated in the grooves 9a, 10a. Grooves 11 at either side of the groove 9a, in the front edge of each lath receive the cross-tapes 4 when the blind is closed, all of the grooves being ribbed at 12 for strength. Modifications include laths having the grooves 9a and 11 united in one common broad groove, the rear groove 10a being omitted; laths having a shorter groove 10a which does not extend up. to the rear edge 1b, or which is omitted altogether, and front grooves 9a, 11 which do not extend up to the slot 8, the grove 9a, if desired, being omitted; and laths provided with grooves 9a, 10a as shown in Fig. 6, but having indentations at either side of the groove 10a adjacent the edge 16.
