Abstract

786,664. Sheet-delivering apparatus. POWERS-SAMAS ACCOUNTING MACHINES, Ltd. April 30, 1956 [May 25, 1955], No. 15142/55. Class 100(1) Card stacking apparatus comprises' a receiver, latches 22, 23 located at the bottom of the receiver and spring urged towards each other to retain cards in the receiver and a card reversing device movable in an arcuate path to and from a card receiving position to a position where a card is deposited in the receiver. The apparatus is adapted to stack small statistical record cars T having locating holes therein. The card T is received beneath a plate 2 which is pivotally supported about a shaft 5 by arms 3, 4. The card T is pushed against stop pins 7 projecting from the underside of the plate 2. The card is retained against the plate 2 by an arm 8 secured to a spindle 9 pivotally mounted in a bushing 10 carried by the arm 4. When the card is located against the pins 7 a driving arm 12 secured to the shaft 5 is caused to rotate so that pins 11 on the arm 12 engage the locating holes in the card T. A limited amount of relative movement is permitted between the plate 2 and arm 12 by virtue of a spring 13 connected to a part 14 on the arm 12 and to the plate 2. The plate 2 and arm 12 are thus normally held together but are spaced apart in the position shown in Fig. 3 by means of stop pins 15 which engage the arms 3, 4. When the arm 12 starts to rotate the bias in the spring is eased while the pins 11 engage the locating holes in the cards whereupon the arm 12 and plate 2. together with the card T rotate in unison so as to present the card bottom side up to the underside of the receiver. The receiver comprises three walls 29, 30, 31 and the cards are retained therein by spring biased latches 22, 23. When the arm 12, during its rotation, has reached a substantially vertical position the card retaining arm 8 is rotated to free the card so that it can be retained in the receiver. The arm 12 is rotated clockwise as viewed in Fig. 1 by means of a pinion 21 fast on the spindle 9 which is engaged by a toothed rack 17 operated by a cam follower 16 which engages a fixed cam 18.
