[Also in Group IX] A running yarn is sized prior to polishing (see Group IX) by passage through a sizing liquid contained in a trough 21 wherein the yarn passes under non-rotating guides 23, 24, 25, carried on one arm of a lever pivoted at 27, the other arm 26 providing means whereby the guides may be raised from and lowered into the liquid and locked into each such position by means of a catch 28. " Combs " or scraper guides 29, 30, the latter of which may be reciprocated, remove excess liquid and return it to the trough.
