Abstract

785,496. Leading-in conductors PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 5, 1955 [Sept. 8, 1954], No. 25412/55. Drawing to Specification. Class 39(2) [Also in Group XXXVI] At least the surface of a contact member which is to be sealed through glass consists of gold and is provided with a layer of copper oxide at the instant of sealing. The member may be of ferrochromium with a layer of gold thereon. One or more intermediate layers, preferably containing cobalt, may 'be provided. The gold layer may be coated with copper which is oxidized during the sealing process, or may consist of a copper-gold compound on the surface of which a layer of copper oxide is formed during sealing. Copper oxide is removed from the part of the contact member projecting from the glass by pickling.
