A longitudinally divided housing comprising members 10, 11 provided with outwardly extending opposed flanges 12, 13 and secured together by bolts and nuts 16 encloses a cylindrical gasket 21 having axially spaced, annular, pipe-receiving lips 26, 27 directed inwardly to seal against leakage between the ends of pipe sections 28, 29 extending into opposite ends of the gasket, and at least one of the housing members is provided at one end with a locking member adapted to be brought into engagement with a mating locking element on the respective pipe section 28 by relative rotation of that section and the housing. One of the housing members has a lateral outlet 37 between the lips of the gasket. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the resilient, moulded gasket 21 comprises sections 22, 23 having axially overlapping, tapered edge portions 24, 25, and annular ribs 38, 39 which are received in grooves in the housing. The housing sections 10, 11 are clamped on the pipe 29 which is engaged by the lip 27 of the gasket, and the pipe 28 which is inserted into the lip 26 of the gasket is provided with a lug 32, rotation of the pipe relative to the housing bringing the lug into engagement with the inclined surface of the recess of the locking lug 33 integral with the member 11, and thereby preventing relative axial displacement between the pipe and housing. The members of the housing are identical, the section 10 thereof having the opening 37 for the connection of a sprinkler or other water outlet. In modifications, (a) the housing sections 40, 41, Fig. 5, having knock-out portions 56 for the connection of branch pipes and the pipes 52, 53 are connected to the housing by lugs 51 engaged in recessed locking lugs 49, and, (b) the gasket has an extension 58, Fig. 7, for connection of a branch pipe.
