784,474. Food mixers. LANDERS, FRANY & CLARK Dec. 14, 1955 [Dec. 14, 1954], No. 35917/55. Class 86 A food and drink mixer comprises a container 2 having an inwardly extending lip 18, a base 22, on which the container 2 is adapted to seat, having a peripheral -gasket 26, and an impeller assembly attached to the base 22 and including a member 52 whose periphery 54 is adapted to press the gasket 26 against the lip 18. An apertured plate 32 secured to the base 22 carries a central sleeve 36 in which bearing bushes 42, 44 of an impeller shaft 10 are mounted. The member 52 is attached to the sleeve 36 together with a member 56 having diametrically opposed inclined slots 58 which are engaged by inwardly directed lugs 64 on a locking lever 62 Partial rotation of the lever 62 causes lowering of the impeller assembly from the unlocked position shown in Fig. 2 to the locked position shown in Fig. 1 in which the base 22, impeller assembly, and container 2 are secured together by the clamping of the gasket 26 between the rim 54 of the member 52 and the lip 18 of the container 2. The shaft 10 carries an impeller 12 and cup-shaped seal 48 at its upper end and is socketed at its lower end for'a sliding fit with the drive shaft 14 of a power unit 4 on which the assembly is supported
