Abstract

1299046 Bearings; mounting bearing races on shafts TEXTRON Inc 22 July 1971 [16 April 1971] 34536/71 Headings F2A and F2U In an assembly comprising a bearing inner ring mounted on a shaft, the ring has an annular, axially-extending end portion, the inner surface of which is relieved over a limited arcuate extent about an axis (radius R 3 ) eccentric to the axis (radius R 2 ) of the shaft surface, and the outer surface of which includes a circumferentially-extending radial flange 24; a clip 20 engaging over said flange includes a tongue 27 such that the ring can be locked to the shaft simply by pushing the clip to the left or right as seen in Fig. 7. The end portion is chamfered at 23, 26 to facilitate the fitting of the clip to the ring. Two clips may be provided, and a further arcuate relieved portion may be situated diametrically opposite on the ring (Fig. 3, not shown). The clip is of spring-ribbon steel. The arrangement can be radially reversed if an outer ring is to be mounted in a bore.
