Abstract

784,302. Partitions. FRENCH, W. G. March 15, 1955, No. 7600/55. Class 20(4) A partition structure comprises a panel unit having a vertical edge abutting a post, the post and panel unit being resiliently held together by a plurality of shouldered projections on the one and corresponding blade springs on the other, each blade spring being 'formed with keyhole slots to be passed over the projections and to be interlocked therewith on vertical displacement, the components of the locking devices being disposed so as to be concealed when the partition is joined to the post. Each panel unit 10 comprises a frame 15, with edge rails 16 provided with central ribs 19 and slots 18 for receiving the connecting devices 12, and panels 17 preferably of sound damping formation, the space between the panels being filled with insulation if desired. Each post 11 is of solid square construction with central longitudinal channels 20 in each side for receiving a rib 19 and transverse intersecting bores 21 for cruciform anchors for the connecting devices 12. Each anchor comprises a member 25 with internally threaded sockets 28 at each end and a central transverse bore 29 through which cross members 26, 27 are secured, the member 27 having an internal threaded bore 36 and the member 26 having an internal threaded socket 34 and a threaded shank 32 engaging part of the bore 36. The head 33 of member 26 and members 25, 27 fit in the bores 21 and the head 33 and member 27 seat in recesses 30 at the ends of the bore 29. Driver slots are provided in the members 25, 26, 27 for manipulation by a screw driver. The connecting device 12 comprises a stud portion 40 secured to the anchor by a threaded shank 44 fitting 'in any of the threaded parts 28, 34, 36, the main part of the stud comprising a cylindrical body 42 with reduced end 43 leading to the shank 44, the end 43 seating in the bores 21. At the opposite end, a reduced neck 47 leads to a head 48 tapered at 45. A spring 41 is secured by a base portion 50 below each slot 18 so that a bowed portion 51 and free end portion 52 extend over the slot. A keyhole slot 53 therein, to fit the neck 47, has an enlarged lower end through which the head 48 can be passed, the panel 10 then being lowered so that the stud 40 is engaged by the spring 41 which is held under tension by the head 48, the rib 19 engaging the channel 20. Specification 784,299 is referred to.
