Abstract

784,162. Load-handling attachments for tractors. MASSEY - HARRIS - FERGUSON (MANUFACTURING), Ltd. Jan. 30, 1956 [Jan. 31,1955], No. 2846/55. Class 78 (3). [Also in Group XXXI] A tractor attachment comprises a loadhandling fork 20, 22 pivoted at 23a to the lower power actuated draft links 13, a telescopic strut 30, 31 provided with a latch 34 which operates to relieve the links 13 and the associated hydraulic lifting mechanism from load, when the heel of the fork has been raised to a predetermined height by the links, and a jack 25, 26 operated by the hydraulic system of the tractor which subsequently pivots the partially raised fork rearwardly about pivots 23a. A lever 47 which controls the flow of fluid to and from the link actuating ram 44 through a valve (not shown), is provided with cams 55, 56 which co-operate with a valve 50 to effect operation of jack 25, 26. Thus, by movement of lever 47 alone the above sequence is effected. In a modification (Figs. 1-3, not shown) separate valves are provided to control ram 44 and jack 25, 26. In a further modification means are provided to lock links 13 in their lowered position, the complete lifting action being effected by the jack.
