Abstract

Guanidine sulphate and guanidine sulphamate are made by reacting together anhydrous carbon dioxide, ammonia and sulphur dioxide at 225-400 DEG C. and at a pressure in excess of 200 pounds per square inch. The sulphate is obtained at above 300 DEG C. An excess of ammonia is preferred. The reaction mixture is cooled to solidify the products and the residual gases are re-circulated.
