Abstract
783,919. Duplex radio signalling; aerials. HAZELTINE CORPORATION. July 7, 1955 [July 30, 1954], No. 19635/55. Classes 40 (5) and 40 (7). In a microwave duplex system in which the transmitter and receiver are coupled to a pair of directional serials by means of a " magic-T " junction, the aerials have a cardioid directional characteristic and are placed back-to-back and fed 90 degrees out-of-phase to provide an omnidirectional array. The transmitter 16 and the receiver 17 are coupled to the input and output arms of the " magic-T " junction 11, and the aerials 18, 19 are connected to the balancing arms of the junction for simultaneous energy transfer either from the transmitter or to the receiver, and a 90 degrees phase shift is introduced into the line connecting the junction to aerial 18 by making the line #/4 longer than the other.
