Abstract

The invention comprises substituted haloacetylpiperazines of the formula: <FORM:0783763/IV (a)/1> in which R is an aryl or heterocyclic radical, R1 is alkyl or H, and X is H or halogen; and a method of preparing them by the action of mono or dihaloacetylchloride on the N-monosubstituted piperazine. In examples, dichloroacetyl chloride is reacted with 1-phenylpiperazine, 1 - (4 - chlorophenyl) - piperazine, 1-(2:6 - dimethylphenyl) - piperazine, 1 - (2-pyridyl)-piperazine, to give the corresponding substituted dichloroacetyl piperazines; 4-dibromacetyl - 1 - phenylpiperazine, 4 - chloroacetyl - 1 - phenylpiperazine, and the hydrochloride of 1-dichloroacetyl-2 : 6-dimethyl-4-phenylpiperazine are also described. Heterocyclic groups specified for R include thiazolyl, pyrimidyl and pyrazinyl.ALSO:Haloacetylpiperazines (see Group IV (b)) may be made up into tablets, capsules, pills, &c. with suitable carriers, and especially with canned dog foods as anthelmintics.
