Abstract
783,623. Electrostatic instruments. STEPHEN & CO., Ltd., R. A. Nov. 21, 1955 [Nov. 23, 1954], No. 33871/54. Class 37. The indicating electrode of an electroscope is made by inserting two wires 15, 16, Fig. 1, in a body 17, bending them to a T-shape, Fig. 2, with turned-up ends 19, 20 and attaching a metallically-coated quartz filament 21 thereto. The ends of the wires are then bent downwards to give an upstanding curved electrode 21, Fig. 3. Alternatively, the ends of the wire may be bent up, Fig. 6. When the body 17 is made of an insulator the leakage path may be increased by the use of a groove 18. An aperture 24 may be arranged so that light can be shone on to the filament 21. The electrode may be mounted in a dosimeter, Fig. 7 (not shown). Specifications 702,605 and 708,728 are referred to in the Provisional Specification.
