Class 52(5) A device for mounting shelves at an adjustable height comprises a hollow rectangular-section upright 2 having a rightangle flange B and a longitudinal slot A, a bracket arm having a flange 3d insertable through the slot to slide in the upright and having at least two cavities or projections engaging corresponding formations in the upright, and a locking member 4 pivoted to the side of the arm to swing into a locking position to maintain the arm at a selected height. The flange 3d, formed by a rectangular-section rod riveted to a sheet metal bracket arm 3a, can be completely accommodated in the hollow part of the upright only at those positions along the upright where notches 7 in the flange 3d are opposite stops 9 projected inwardly from the wall of the upright by partially punching holes 8 at regular intervals, the locking member 4 wedging in the slot at those positions. The bracket arm has a bent edge 3d, to which a shelf is screwed and in a modification the bracket arm and the locking member are of cast material.
