Abstract
A product for cleaning metal bodies comprises a strong mineral acid, a colloidal clay and a polyvinyl alcohol resin, the nature of the product being such that it gives the film obtained by spreading it on the surface to be cleaned, a structure such that the film can be removed by peeling it off. The acid may be hydrochloric, sulphuric or phosphoric acid, and bentonite is used as the colloidal clay. A reducing agent such as stannous chloride, an inhibitor such as antimony oxide, and a grease-removing solvent such as that known as "Ortosol" (mono- and di-chlorobenzene), may be added to the product.
