Abstract

781,114. Binding-posts; terminal boards; supports for circuit components. UNITED CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. April 18, 1955 [May 11, 1954], No. 11185/55. Class 38(1). A terminal comprises a body 60, Fig. 10, of synthetic plastic insulating material having a recess 64 for solder and resilient fingers 66 for snap-fastener engagement with an apertured support. The recess may have fluxcored solder pre-assembled therein or solder may be inserted when wires are attached to the terminal. When the solder is melted the walls of the recess are softened thereby sufficiently to key the solder in position. Fig. 3 shows several terminals 26 interconnected by webs 28 and disposed on either side of an attaching portion 16. The fingers 22 of the attaching portion are locked in engagement with the support 14 by a pin 24 driven downwardly through a bore 18 in the attaching portion. Two terminal strips 42, Fig. 5, may be disposed in parallel relation on either side of an attaching portion 46 and connected thereto by webs 44. Such an arrangement may be used for mounting a small wire-ended components. Fig. 7 shows a strip of terminals 54 with attaching portions 52 at intervals along it. Such a strip can be cut into lengths as required.
