781,091. Weighing apparatus. ASHWORTH ROSS & CO., Ltd. Nov. 11, 1955 [Nov. 13, 1954], No. 32948/54. Class 143 A capacity changeover weight 8 is moved to and from a carrier plate 9 by a carriage 7 which is raised and lowered by a manually operated rack and pinion mechanism 13, 14, and which is retained in its raised position by a spring catch 15, 16, the resistance of which can be overridden by the rack and pinion. The carriage is guided on rods 20 and is provided with notches 7a which engage trunnions 8a on the weight. A dashpot 5 damps movement of the carriage. The position of the carriage is indicated by a pointer 21 movable in a window 22
