A fuel/air mixing starting device for a liquid fuel burner comprises a "U" tube 1 having a fuel inlet 4 at its base immersed in a fuel tank, an air inlet at one end ana the other end connected to the burner jet 6 the arrangement being such that compressed air in the tank 3 on passing through the "U" tube draws liquid fuel into the tube through the inlet 4 to deliver an air/fuel mixture to the burner jet 6.
