Abstract
780,514. Hackling machines. VEB SPINN - UND ZWIRNEREIMASCHINENBAU KARLMARX-STADT. Feb. 11, 1955, No. 4132/55. Class 120(1) [Also in Group XXIII] The hackle bar lattice 3, 4 (Fig. 1) of a hackling machine is kept clean by rotary brushes having their bristles mounted in such a way that they may be simultaneously adjusted in a radial direction to compensate for wear. The brush shown comprises a housing 12 carrying around its periphery a number of bristle carriers 10 supported on arms 11 urged inwardly by springs 13 against the conical portion of a sleeve 18. The sleeve rotates with the housing and is movable axially by means of a nut 24 engaging a thread on the sleeve and rotated by a bevel gear 25 engaging teeth on the periphery of the nut whereby the radial position of the bristle carriers may be adjusted. It is suggested that alternatively the sleeve could be adjusted by means of a nut engaging the shaft 16 or by threading the sleeve on to the shaft. Alternatively they could be adjusted by bell-crank levers or the arms carrying the bristle holders could have their inner ends engaging in helical grooves formed in a disc attached to the shaft. The tow which collects on the bristles is removed by tow doffers 7 (Fig. 1) which in turn are cleared by rocking members 18.
