Abstract

<PICT:0780485/IV (a)/1> <PICT:0780485/IV (a)/2> Regenerated cellulose yarns spun from cuprammonium solutions by the funnel method are arranged immediately after spinning in warp formation and are drawn through the washing baths in this arrangement by a traction device placed after the washing baths; they are then treated in a substantially unstressed state with impregnants, excess impregnant is removed and the yarns are fed under at most a moderate tension to a drying device. As shown in Fig. 1, the warp of yarns 1 is drawn through a washing bath 2 by a traction mechanism comprising rollers 3, 4, 5 mounted on an impregnating bath 7. Excess impregnant is removed by a suction device 21A and the warp passes through a drying chamber 6 to a take-up device operating at the same peripheral speed as the traction mechanism. The rollers 3, 4, 5 are positively driven and the roller 4 may be tilted about the axis of roller 3. Each yarn passes through a groove in the suction device 21A, as shown in Fig. 4. The impregnant may be an oil, fat, size, synthetic resin or matting agent.
