780,349. Indicating leakages. SIMONCARVES, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1956 [Feb. 28, 1955], No. 5840/55. Class 99(2). [Also in Group XXXV] In means for detecting leakages of moisture from a tube 2 conveying water or an aqueous solution or suspension for cooling purposes and immersed in oil or other electrically non-conducting material, the tube is covered with a layer 3 of electricalinsulating material, e.g. mutton-cloth, and wound over the latter are two helically wound, spacedapart, bare wires 4, 5 which are connected to an electric. al circuit so that a flow of current from one wire to the other due to leakage of water from the tube can be detected. As shown, the tube is arranged in an electrical transformer and the wires of copper are connected to a low-voltage electrical supply 6 and an alarm, warning signal or circuit breaker 7, operation of the latter being caused by a short-circuit between the wires in the vicinity of a leak. The wires may be covered by a water-impervious layer.
