[Also in Group XXXVII] A switch-operating device comprises a governor, a sliding plunger movable by the governor, a plurality of switches, a movable disc adapted to be moved by the plunger and a plurality of adjustable spring-loaded pivots, the disc actuating the switches in sequence under control of the pivots. The plunger 18 is moved axially by weights 15 and carries a bearing 40, the outer race of which is fixed against rotation and engages the disc 35 at 38, 39. The disc 35 is secured to a further disc 36 by spacers 37 and bears against spring plungers 42, 43, 44 carried by a plate 24 which supports the switches 25, 26, 27. The resistance of springs 47 bearing on the plungers 42, 43, 44 is variable so that the switches may be operated in any sequence with predetermined delays. Upward movement of the discs 35, 36 is accompanied by tilting thereof about pairs of the plungers in turn until at a sufficiently high speed, all three plungers are depressed and the discs are once again horizontal (Fig. IX, not shown). The opening sequence of the switches is adjusted by operating screws 54, 57, 58 carried by the disc 36. In a modification, Fig. XI, two switches 65, 66 are arranged sideby-side and are actuated by a plate 60 operated by the governor mechanism and engaging adjustable spring plungers 61, 62. The upper part 75 of the housing may be adjusted, together with the switches, by means of inclined slots and screws 77.
