[Also in Groups XXX, XXXI and XXXII] A machine for use in the planting and care of agricultural products, particularly in the harvesting of tobacco and like crops, comprises a skeleton framework mounted on wheels 33, 46, Fig. 1, and provided with one or more conveyers 123, 124 which carry the products from an upper to a lower level or vice versa. The rear wheels 33 are carried by auxiliary frames 21, 22 which also support seats 26 for workmen, the frames being adjustable on transverse members of the main frame to vary the wheel gauge in accordance with the spacing of the rows along which the vehicle operates ; provision is also made for varying the longitudinal position of the wheels 33 to adjust the wheel base. The wheel 46, the upper part of which is enclosed by a skirt 52 provided as the front with a container for ballast, is driven from a motor 70 mounted on a platform carried by the main frame above the wheel, which is controllable by a steering-wheel 65. The shaft of the motor carries a split pulley both halves of which are of frusto-conical shape and one of which is slidable on the shaft to vary the diameter engaged by the belt, a similar pulley being mounted on a shaft connected by sprocket gearing to the shaft of the wheel 46 so that the speed of the vehicle can be controlled. Each conveyer is formed by a pair of spaced chains to which are attached, at spaced intervals, brackets 134, Fig. 18, forming, with spring-pressed arms 135 pivoted thereto, clips for the reception of the products. The conveyers are driven at adjustable speeds from the motor 70 and pass over wheels 121, 145, 146, 156, 157, 154, 153 carried by the machine. Harvested products are carried by the conveyers to the upper level where they can be removed and hung on sticks 144, Fig. 22, supported by pivoted brackets 172 on a rain of arms 159 carried by aligned pins 161 and adapted to be rotated together and held in either of two positions. When the sticks are full, they can be removed and stored on racks 176 at the rear of the vehicle.
