Abstract

778,412. Moulding links for link mats. WHITBY & CHANDLER, LTD. Aug. 10, 1955 [Aug. 11, 1954], No. 23336/54. Class 87(2). [Also in Group IX] The links for a link mat (see Group IX) are made by extruding plastic material into a strip of the required cross-section, e.g. as in Fig. 3, which is then cut into lengths appropriate to the required width of the links as shown by dotted lines 12, Fig. 1. The material is extruded over cores to form holes 13, through which wires may be threaded to join the links, to and form holes in the thicker parts to increase resiliency, these holes being round (15, Fig. 1) or elongated (16, Fig. 3). Tubes are also extruded and cut up to form distance pieces. Any plastic material capable of being extruded may be employed, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, india rubber or synthetic rubber.
